Helston Methodist Church got crafty for Christmas as it hosted a fair full of handmade gifts and goodies.

The church raised over £700 with its annual craft and gift fair, which featured 25 stalls and included one stall holder who had travelled all the way from Somerset for the event.

The event offered a wide variety of goods to visitors, including hand made cards, hand made Christmas decorations, cakes made by the ladies of the church, jewellery stalls and shabby chic products, and there were bacon sandwiches and other treats for anyone feeling a little peckish.

Organiser Margaret Flinders said: "All in all, a good time was had by all. It's always a nice atmosphere, people were very friendly and interested in each others crafts."

She said the organisers were "delighted" with the money raised because "the church does all sorts of other projects."

"It has a feed the homeless campaign," she said, "and it also has an evening meal for those who are on hard times, struggling a bit.

"So the money raised helps towards the upkeep of the church and the ongoing things with the homeless and the needy."
