A year eight pupil at Helston Community College has scooped five prizes in a very successful day at the Camborne Musical Festival.
Flautist Maia Roberts took home the silverware in five categories: : the grade eight woodwind class with distinction, the woodwind duet class with honours, the most promising under-18 woodwind player, the most promising musician, and she shared the cup for the best overall performance at the festival.
The cup Maia had really wanted was the most promising under-18 woodwind player, having won it two years previously.
Maia plays in various ensembles, including Helston Community College’s wind band and the Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra.
