Police have said that any information, no matter how small, could be "vital" in an investigation into the alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman in Helston.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and posting notes through letterboxes in a bid to find important clues that could lead to an arrest.

The alleged attack took place between 3.45am and 4.20am on Sunday, January 10, as the victim was walking home from Shooters Bar in Coinagehall Street.

She was heading towards a housing estate near Gwealhellis Warren when she was approached by two men who assaulted her, with police saying it is possible that a third man was also involved in the attack.

A 19-year-old man from Truro has been questioned in connection with the offence and has been bailed until

March 30 pending further enquiries.

However, police say it is important that the public continue to get in contact with information, no matter how trivial it might seem.

A police spokesman said: "All information would still be gratefully received. It was a busy bar; lots of people may have seen the victim beforehand, but more importantly leaving the pub and walking in the area.

"Anyone who saw anything, no matter how small, please get in touch as the information could be vital."

The two men who are said to have approached the victim have both been described as white, of medium build, with dark hair and no facial hair or visible tattoos.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Church Street during this time, who saw a woman with long hair, wearing white jeans and a black shirt, as they could hold vital information relating to the attack," added the spokesman.

Police are also trying to track down a black Billabong purse with a textured pattern which could be in the area.

Anyone with any information should contact the police by emailing 101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk quoting crime reference CR/2037/16.
