An annual fundraising event for Helston aid charity ShelterBox will tie in with the forthcoming series of Poldark.

Long term ShelterBox supporter Wendy Perry will once again open up the Georgian kitchens of her home Bosvigo House and its grounds in Truro for viewing, as part of Hellebore Day, celebrating the flowers that fill the garden.

This year visitors can also discover more about the house being used for the assaying of tin, where the quality and value of the mined ore was assessed, as shown in the popular Cornwall-based TV series Poldark.

Two wings of the house were added around 1780, during the decades Winston Graham set his Poldark novels, on which the TV series is based.

Wendy has also managed to get hold of a copy of a Poldark novel signed by the principal cast members, which will be offered as a prize on the day.

This year's event takes place on Saturday, February 20, with gates opening at 9.30am and the gardens closing at 4pm.

Wendy has been fundraising since the death of her daughter, Hannah Perry, in the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004, initially to help fishermen in Thailand re-build their livelihoods and now in aid of ShelterBox, one of the charities that did so much to help tsunami-hit countries around the Indian Ocean.
