Applications are open for a newly created job role promoting Helston.

South Kerrier Heritage Trust and Helston Town Council are jointly employing a marketing and events coordinator, splitting the wage budget between them.

The new position, which will be based out of Helston Museum, will be to promote the museum and town as a whole, including events, activities and attractions in both.

The role will include maintaining and developing the Visit Helston website and the Helston Museum website, with extensive use of social media.

Judith Haycock, chair of the South Kerrier Heritage Trust, said: "It is a really interesting job for the right person who has all the IT skills and also a passion for the town and the museum."

The job descriptions states: "The marketing coordinator should be an experienced marketing/PR professional. A capable administrator, communicator and organiser with a high degree of experience in the use of social media, website management and general marketing.

"The person must be able to communicate via face-to-face meetings, telephone and e-mail with partner organisations, community groups and the people and businesses of Helston and surrounding area. He/she must be able to develop strong links with these organisations and liaise closely with all stakeholders."

It is being offered with a salary of £7.20 per hour.
