Some of the best restaurants and food producers in the area were recognised at the first Porthleven Food Festival awards ceremony.

More than 2,000 votes were cast in the run up to the Golden Oyster Food Awards, which were held on Friday ahead of the main festival weekend.

Organisers of the festival had shortlisted different categories, which were then thrown open to the general public to vote.

Picking up their awards on the night were Porthleven's own Ship Inn for best pub (with food) and Kota for best restaurant.

Other winners from the nearby area were the Poldhu Beach Cafe for best cafe, Falmouth's Gylly Beach Cafe for best cafe and Trevaskis Farm at Hayle for best retailer.

The awards were presented by Malcolm Bell, head of tourism at Visit Cornwall, with the ceremony compered by Daphne Skinnard of Radio Cornwall.

Following the awards presentations the evening continued with music from Polly Money, Flats & Sharps and headliners The Jar Family.

Festival organiser Hannabeth Johnson described the awards as "really successful," adding: "People really got behind it."
