Blind or visually impaired people in the Redruth, Camborne, Helston and Lizard areas are being invited to enjoy a welcome and a host of activities at Gweek Visually Impaired Club every Tuesday.

The club, which is held every Tuesday between 10am and 3pm at Gweek Village Hall, next to the Seal Sanctuary, had been running from 1991 until May 2013 under the auspices of a charity, but all its funding was withdrawn when the charity was forced into liquidation.

But the volunteers were determined continue, and a committee was formed, funds were raised and the club was up and running by July 2013

As members enter the hall each Tuesday morning they fill the room with laughter and chatter as they meet their friends of many years.

Activities include carpet bowls, dancing, quizzes, visiting entertainers and occasionally a lunch out is arranged, although usually lunch is provided between 12 noon and 1pm.

Transport is provided from door to door both ways where possible by volunteers, and carers, friends and family members that know someone who may benefit from such a day out should contact Mary on maryvtimbers@btinternet.com
