Pupils from St Michael's School have learned more about what it takes to be an illustrator.

They spent the morning with children's book author illustrator Rebecca Cobb from Falmouth, who studied illustration at Falmouth College of Arts.

Her work includes the Julia Donaldson book The Paper Dolls and The Ferry Birds by Helen Dunmore, as well as a series of her owned penned books.

The youngsters spent the morning looking at the different books she has been involved with, plus a meet and greet session organised by the Somerset Literacy Network.

Rebecca explained what it was like to be published and the children got to ask her questions.

Paula Pickford, from St Michael's, said: "The children learned a lot and were amazed at how much effort and work it took to illustrate books."

Rupert, one of the year four pupils who went on the trip, said: "I learned that it takes over 1,000 pictures to make a 12 page picture book."
