THE all clear has been given after Helston Community College was put into 'lockdown' by police this morning.

A notice to parents and carers was posted on the school's Facebook page at lunchtime saying: "This morning we were alerted to a potential situation by the police, which led us to ask all staff to keep their students in class through break time until concerns were fully investigated. Police have now advised that the College can go back to normal."

Some parents responded angrily on post with Hannah Nott saying: "A potential situation! My daughter phoned me really scared. With our children entrusted in your care I think parents deserve a little more of an explanation than a potential situation!"

While Ali Brown said:  "I heard there was a threat made, I haven't heard from my girls, the school said they are all safe, still makes me worried tho."

Darren Walker said: "Pointless status! As parents we're worried by the lack of information and updates! Are we allowed to know what 'threats' were made? Would be handy since our children are there!"

Police said a threat was made to the school which is thought to be a hoax.

A very small police presence was at the school for reassurance purposes only.
