The creative work of teenagers from across the county has been praised at Falmouth University’s annual CreatEd exhibition and awards evening.

Students, teachers and guests attended the exhibition private view and awards ceremony at the university’s Penryn Campus. CreatEd celebrates outstanding coursework by year 11, 12 and 13 students studying creative subjects, providing a great opportunity for them to exhibit their final pieces.

This year there were over 650 entries from students at schools and colleges across Cornwall. Awards for exceptional work were handed out on the night to: Fine Art, Brooke Fraser and Shannon-Leigh Donohue, from Helston Community College; Fashion and Textiles, Ellie Pollock from St Ives School and Robert Doman from Bodmin College; Graphic Design, Oliver Townrow from Penair School and Pedro Martin from Cornwall College; Film and Animation, George Summers from Truro and Penwith College; Journalism, Calypso Squibb, Elena Salvoni and Gisele Parnall from Truro High School, and Laura Brainwood from Cornwall College; Photography, Isobel Empson from Mounts Bay Academy and Eva Jones from Truro and Penwith College; Product Design, Lawrence Lloyd from Newquay Tretherras Academy and Harvey Pursall from Treviglas Community College; Creative Writing and Poetry, Andrew Jenkins from St Ives School and Vicki Turner, Amber Mitchell, Sophie Jones and Holly Davies from Cornwall College; Music, Alice Santos from Treviglas Community College and Katy Goddard from Helston Community College

Alan Murray, deputy vice-chancellor (academic) at Falmouth, said: “Every year the standard gets higher. Our judges have to work harder than ever to come to their decisions. Every entrant could be a winner. Every one of you should be proud of what you’ve achieved.”

Artwork, animations, product designs, recorded music and poetry are just some of the pieces submitted. Schools involved include Bodmin College, Cape Cornwall School, Cornwall College, Helston Community College, Launceston College, Looe Community Academy, Mounts Bay Academy, Newquay Tretherras Academy, Penair School, Poltair School, Redruth School, Richard Lander School, St Ives School, St Joseph’s School, Treviglas Community College, Truro and Penwith College and Truro High School.
