An ongoing fundraising campaign to help a four-year-old boy learn how to speak will receive the support of Helston Rotary Club this year.

Recently appointed president Vince Grispo has chosen the charity as the one he would like members to support over the course of the club year.

It was set up in support of William Stuteley, who has severe autism and is unable to process language.

His parents, Joe and Rebecca, set up the scheme Hear Will’s Voice in a bid to raise enough money to fund intensive therapy.

The therapy, for which there is only two fully trained therapists in Cornwall, is not available on the NHS and in the last six months alone has cost the family £6,000.

Joe attended a meeting of Helston Rotary recently to explain to members in more detail about Will’s condition and what the therapy can do, before the club launches various fundraising events over the course of the year until June 2017.

These will include the annual Christmas carol service at Helston Methodist Church, the proceeds of which will go the charity.

The club also voted to give £1,000 to the family immediately so that Will can continue to receive the therapy he needs.
