A Ponsongath woman who hosted a jazz in her garden has raised over £2,000 for the Helston Community Hospital.

Guests spent a relaxing evening wandering through Pippa Englefield's garden while listening to jazz and socialising with friends.

As a result, Pippa and her helpers raised £2,550, and they recently presented a cheque to the League of Friends for the Helston Community Hospital.

Wendy Wallis, secretary of the League of Friends, said: "The committee really appreciate the hard work people put into fundraising because without such funds we could not provide equipment for the hospital."

The league of friends is currently helping the hospital to buy several items, including CosiChairs worth £1,200, a standing aid which costs almost £6,000, and solar lights and building material to re-grout the stones in the garden, and it has also been asked to help with buying four Dynamaps, which are used to record patients blood pressure At the next meeting in October the league will allocate Pippa’s money to a piece of equipment and will write and let her know where the money went."
