A man has died after a group of divers got into difficulty off the Lizard peninsula on Saturday afternoon.
The inshore lifeboat, coastguard, and police were called to Porthkerris near St Keverne at around noon and after three divers got into difficulty, and a man was recovered unconscious from the water around 12.50pm.
He was airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro and pronounced dead a short time later.
A police spokesperson said: "Formal identification has not yet been carried out but he is believed to be a 67-year-old man from Brentwood in Essex. Next of kin has been informed.
"Two other divers were also taken by ambulance to Derriford Hospital due to rapid ascent in the sea, but released the same day following recompression treatment."
The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and police enquiries are ongoing, but the death is not believed to be suspicious.
