A group of Explorer Scouts from Helston held a unique Remembrance event on Saturday evening and Sunday morning as the country remembered those who have been killed in war.

The group from Hellys Bocka delivered their own Remembrance service at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth to commemorate 100 years since the battle of Somme.

The group secured the permission of English Heritage to camp overnight on Saturday within the grounds of the castle, which was garrisoned by troops during the First World War, to help them gain some empathy with the soldiers of the time.

They also invited Camborne Explorer Scouts, Piskies, and Redruth Explorer Scouts, Five Carns, which also form the Stenek Ha'n Mor Scout district.

The next morning, remembrance Sunday, the group delivered their own service of remembrance.

The event will also help the members with their Explorers Chief Scout Awards.
