The Military Wives, including those from Culdrose, are back for Christmas – with their biggest release yet.

Featuring over 1,000 women, from 65 choirs across the UK and overseas, Home for Christmas is an

inspirational collection of 12 Christmas carols and songs. With 65 participating choirs, the recording is the Military Wives Choirs’ biggest project yet.

The choirs, comprising 1,006 singers, can all be heard on the title track Home for Christmas, and the album also features six classic carols, which have been updated with lyrics reflecting what Christmas means to women in the military community.

Cornwall's only branch of the network, Culdrose Military Wives Choir, recorded their voices for the album at St George’s Hall in Bristol in September.

Anna Oliver, PR officer for Culdrose MWC, said: "It was an amazing and unforgettable experience for our ladies, and we worked hard to prepare for the session. For many this was their first experience of professional recording, enjoying the mix of pressure and excitement, and we all returned to our regular lives the next day. Christmas can be different in our community, with absent partners or being posted far away from those we love, but it is still a special time in which music plays a key role."

Following the enormous success of the number one single Wherever You Are in 2012, Military Wives Choirs have been set up across the country and abroad, bringing more and more women

from within the military community closer together through singing.

Home for Christmas is released on Friday, November 25, when the Culdrose Military Wives Choir will perform songs from the album at the Helston lights switch-on. They will be back in action at the Eden Project on Saturday, December 3.
