Mullion School hosted the first U12s judo competition as part of the Youth Sports Trust earlier this month.

Mullion School is a combat hub and as part of this, the competition was set up among the schools. The school, with the help of Penrose Judo Club who run a satellite club at the school every Wednesday as an after school club, planned the event along with the officials who kindly gave their time.

The only criteria was that all participants held a valid judo licence. There were 40 competitors from across the county. Three secondary schools were represented along with 11 primary schools. For some of the children it was their first competition and for others, more opportunity for them to improve their competitive spirit.

There are two further competitions planned, one in March for the over 12s and then a combined competition for U12s and over 12s in May.

Should any clubs have players who would like to participate in those competitions, you can either contact their local schools as they will receive information a month prior to the event, or you can contact Mullion School about the competitions and they will send an application form out to you.
