With just days to go until Helston Town Band’s inaugural Night at the Movies evening, organisers are appealing to anyone with an interest in Flora Day and the Flora Day Association, the band or the town in general, to turn out and support the event.

The night will raise money for Helston’s Flora Day Association and will take place at Flambards’ Kingsford Venue, this coming Saturday, November 26, at 7.30pm. So far, ticket sales have been disappointing so organisers are hoping a last minute push for support will encourage more to get involved.

Tickets cost £10, or £35 for groups of four, and available from Heathercraft Fabrics, Gillian’s Larder and Christophers Estate Agents in Helston.

In a break from traditional concert-style performances and with the help of band member and local big band and swing singer, Jack Curnow, and renowned local compere, Clive Triolaire, the band hope to host a film-themed evening to remember. Accordingly, guests, and band members, are asked to “dress to impress."

Guests can enjoy a welcome drink, a bar and nibbles. The band are grateful to local businesses, who have donated prizes for the grand raffle - the impressive offerings include meal vouchers for pubs and restaurants.

Anyone wishing to find out more should call 07976 435809. "Please help us to make the evening a success," said a spokesman.
