Organisers of Porthleven Food Festival have revealed next year's event will take an "under the sea" theme.

A range of sea creatures will join the fun as the port hosts three days of cooking demonstrations, food stalls and food-themed activities around the harbour and beyond.

Kicking off on the evening of Friday, April 21 and continuing into two full days of weekend activities on April 22 and 23, the 2017 festival will also see the return of the Festival Fringe focusing on children's activities, the Literature Festival tent, art, Porthleven Bake Off competition, auction and fireworks finale.

The Friday and Saturday nights will feature live bands and there will also be music around the harbour during the daytime. The committee has announced that, following feedback from visitors, the Lime Kiln stage will be back for 2017.

Chairman David Turnbull said: "Porthleven and the sea are intrinsically linked by the harbour and this theme is a great way to celebrate the place where we live.

"Last year we had a record number of people getting involved in decorating the town, including local retailers who really went for it in our shop window competition. Everyone is encouraged to dress up and join us and there will be lots of themed activities and things to see and do."

The festival is largely free to attend but tickets for the main events on Friday and Saturday night will go on sale soon.
