A website set up by a Helston pet owner last year celebrating 'dog friendly' places in Cornwall is preparing to fundraise to produce a full directory.

Dog Friendly Cornwall features dog friendly businesses, from hotels, campsites and cottages to pubs and restaurants, as well as dog friendly attractions and days out, plus services such as dog groomers, walkers and sitters.

Now founder Victoria Carpenter is getting ready to launch a Crowdfunder campaign so she can produce printed copies for the one million dog owners who visit the county every year - not to mention the 150,000 who live in Cornwall themselves.

Victoria, who launched the website in the summer of 2015 after struggling to find places that were happy to accommodate her Newfoundland dog Rosie, said: "Owning a bigger dog is a very good test to find the places that are truly dog friendly and whenever we found these places, we really wanted to shout about them - which is why we started Dog Friendly Cornwall."

She hopes to raise £3,000 to cover the cost of a good quality printer, which will enable her to produce a range of guides covering different areas of the county.

Rewards on offer to anyone pledging money range from a weekend in a luxury motorhome to Dog Friendly Cornwall hoodies and guides.

In addition, anyone signing up to advertise in the directory via the campaign can do so for the discounted rate of £20.

The Crowdfunder campaign will launch this Monday, with links through the website dogfriendlycornwall.net
