They are familiar little figures that hide around Coverack and Helston at certain times of the year and now the Cornish Pisky Pals are extending their fame by featuring in their own book.

Creators Caroline Beadler and her sister Angela combined their skills to design and hand make little pisky characters that are sold with their own information card, as a Cornish keepsake.

During school holidays they can also be found hiding around Coverack, through Helston and often at Roskilly's also, with families encouraged to find them all and learn their names on a set trail.

Now the piskies are appearing in their first book, Pisky Treasure, which the sisters have written and illustrated themselves.

The book is postcard sized, with the story based in their home village of Coverack.

Caroline said: "It took quite a while to get to the final draft, as we are new to the process of writing and illustrating, but we are really pleased with the end result and we hope it will encourage children to be creative and imaginative and enjoy Cornwall and Coverack in particular."

She thanked Rebecca Carey for her help with editing and Mary Combe for the loan of old postcards to give the book some factual accuracy!

The book is dedicated to their gran, because as children they used to play in her garden in Coverack - alongside the 'real-life' piskies - and it features her recipe for rock buns at the back.
