The 100-strong cast of Helston Community College's production of Alice in Wonderland are hoping audience members will leave grinning like Cheshire cats this week.

A musical version of Lewis Carroll's classic children's novel, the show opens tonight and runs until Friday in the college's south site hall.

More than 110 students from year seven to year 13 are involved in the production, ranging from acting and singing to dancing and playing in the band.

Students also form the backstage crew, make-up team and act as sound and lighting operators, and have also helped with direction and choreography.

It tells the story of Alice's adventures after climbing through a rabbit hole into Wonderland, where she meets an array of colourful characters.

There are three versions of Alice in the musical, played by Clare, Charlotte Laity and May Marr.

Other well known characters include the white rabbit played by John England, the psychedelic caterpillar played by Sarah England and the Cheshire Cat played by Phoebe Savage.

Tamsin Ford is the Mad Hatter, Auden Vincent the March Hare and Abigail Hole the dormouse.

Jess Woods is the Queen of Hearts, Leia Triplett the Duchess, Meg Parker the White Queen and Joe Lander is Humpty Dumpty, while Gracie Tripconey and Tegen Treloar are comedy duo Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.

Tickets for the show cost £5, or £3 concessions, available from the school's accounts office on north site. Performances begin at 7pm each night.
