A woman from Mullion has been banned from keeping dogs for five years after pleading guilty to animal cruelty.
Julia Penelope Horner, aged 52, admitted causing unnecessary cruelty to a dog called Minky between July 25 and November 7 last year.
Magistrates in Truro committed her to prison for eight weeks, suspended for 12 months, due to the "prolonged period of deliberate neglect" and ordered her to pay £400 prosecution costs, as well as a £115 surcharge to victim services.
She was also disqualified from owning dogs for five years, suspended for 56 days so that alternative arrangements can be made for two other dogs: a cream half Westie called Baby and a brindle terrier called Boy.
A second charge of failing to protect animals from pain, injury, suffering or disease in relation to skin problems was withdrawn.
