There's a new 'cod' on the block selling fish and chips in Porthleven in the form of Helston boy Benjamin Leech.

The son of John and Jane Leech, who own the Lakeside Cafe at Coronation Park, Ben has opened up Porthleven Fish and Chips, after taking over the former Roland's Happy Plaice shop.

The 20-year-old learned his trade frying alongside his brother Jonathan in Garstang, Lancashire, helping to secure the shop's status as one of the top 50 chip shops in the UK.

He has also worked for his parents at the Lakeside Cafe since a teenager, but is now branching out with his own 'plaice' after going into business with his dad.

Having previously owned Nauti But Ice, John said: "We are thrilled to be back in the village and look forward to serving everyone top quality, traditional fish and chips."

The formerly pink building has been given a bit of a makeover by Ben and his team, who are now ready to cook up a storm as the wet and windy weather continues.

Porthleven Fish and Chips will be open Monday to Saturday, from 11.30am until 2pm and 4.30pm until 8pm.
