Good causes in Porthleven are being given a share of £2,000.
Porthleven Community Interest Company, which was set up in 2012 to win and subsequently manage £100,000 windfall for the area, has made a profit through three businesses it set up: marquee hire, a public car park and hire of a nine-seater minibus.
As a not-for-profit company, the directors of the CIC have now agreed to share the surplus between projects that benefit the port and are within the parish boundary – the two defining criteria.
Andrew Wallis, one of the four directors along with Mark Berryman, Louise Winterton and David Turnbull, said: “We’re really pleased that after four years’ worth of trading we’re able to put money back into the community for projects. If it benefits Porthleven we will consider the application.”
Application forms will be available shortly but in the first instance groups or individuals can email enquiries@porthlevencic.co.uk.
Mr Wallis added that the hope was there would also be a surplus in future years that could be distributed in a similar way at the end of each financial year.
