Two rock bands that have been solid charity supporters in Helston for the last five years have done it again.

Friday saw Bobby’s Helmet and High Voltage come together for their fifth Blue Anchor Charity Rock Night in aid of Brain Tumour Research UK.

It is a charity that both bands have a close connection to and have raised thousands of pounds for over the years.

This year's event added a further £256 onto that total, with the Helston pub’s skittle alley filled with supporters, who rocked the night away.

Bobby’s Helmet kicked off the evening with the live music from 9pm, while High Voltage brought it to a close at midnight.

In between saw the return of the popular ‘rock-aoke’ section, which has been held for the last four years. Anyone in the audience who fancied a chance at singing with either band, to the song of their choice, was able to take centre stage in return for a donation into the collecting bucket.

One of the organisers, Paul Turton of Bobby's Helmet, said: "We had a good turnout. The night is basically a chance for anybody who has always wanted to head a rock back - it's good fun. People put their names down and a couple of quid in the bucket.

"Thank you to everyone who came along and supported our event, parted with their money and got up to sing."

He also thanked the members of High Voltage and in particular Mark and Donna Bosustow, who helped out on the night.
