The owner of a "dangerous" dog in Porthleven has been ordered to keep her under control or risk having it destroyed.

David Michael Brand, of Wheal Rose, was brought before magistrates in Truro by police, on a charge that between October 30 and November 29 last year he was the owner of a dog that was "dangerous and was not kept under proper control."

The 49-year-old denied this but it was found proved in court. As a result magistrates ordered that Blondie be kept under "proper control," on a lead no longer than 1.5 metres when in public areas. The dog must not be left alone with or exercised by anyone under the age of 16 unless accompanied by an adult over the age of 18, and anyone left in control walking her or giving general care must be made aware of the conditions.

The court also ordered that Blondie be microchipped if not already, with the serial number passed to Devon & Cornwall Police.

Brand was told to pay costs of £205 to Devon and Cornwall Police.

Last month Brand asked for support of Facebook users in the Porthleven group and more than 20 people came forward, describing Blondie as "friendly, mild-mannered and gentle," "very chilled, calm and wonderful," and "a harmless loving dog."
