After a successful fundraising festival Kay Harvey, organiser of Heart:Beats, has presented the two charities she supports with a cheque for over £2,500.

Kay, who suffers from a rare condition known as Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection, took it upon herself to raise the money for the Cardiac Unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital and the British Heart Foundation.

She organised Heart:Beats festival, which was held at the Blue Anchor in Helston and featured a wide variety of musicians.

Now Kay, from Mullion, has counted the money raised and presented the Cardiac Unit and the British Heart Foundation with a cheque for £2,586

A spokesperson from The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity said: "We are so very grateful to Kay and all of her supporters for organising the Heartbeats Festival and for raising such a fantastic total.

"The funds will go directly to the Cardiac Unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital and will benefit the patients being cared for in that area.

"What a fantastic show of community support for Kay and for the charities that she has chosen to support. Thank you, Kay.”

Kay said: "I'm grateful for everyone who helped me, supported me, donated and of course who attended on the day.

"I never thought I would top the first one but somehow we did."
