A cadet from Helston Army Cadets has said a fond farewell after six years of fun, friendship and challenges.

Cadet Company Sergeant Major Dane Caglar has left Helston Army Cadets due to his age and was awarded a presentation of his achievements by Company Commander, Major Demelza Stevenson. Over the years he has represented the region playing rugby, learnt skills such as first aid and also become an accomplished instructor.

His ability as a cadet and his mature attitude saw him promoted to the most senior position within West Cornwall, and has carried out his duties with integrity and moral courage. The presentation awarded to him displays the badges of qualifications he has achieved over the years, a commemorative rank slide and cap badge along with a stable belt in the ACF colours.

Major Stevenson said: "He is a well-liked cadet who displays the value and behaviours that we hope to instil in all of our cadets. He is a great role model and will be sorely missed by cadets and adults alike."

Helston Army Cadets meets on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the ACF Centre on Clodgy Lane and are always welcoming new cadets. If you would like to get involved, call Cornwall Army Cadets headquarters on 01208 73183 or visit armycadets.com/GoFurther?.
