With the Masked Ball just over a week away, the last train to dance central is about to leave the station, but we at the Packet have two tickets to give away.

Just answer our one simple question and you could be in with a chance of jumping on the love locomotive to The Underworld, a journey through the long lost underground clubs which perfectly encapsulate four iconic musical eras.

First stop will be legendary 1960s Bristol reggae venue The Bamboo Club, mashing up the place with niceness, wicked vibes and the deep bass from the pounding ragga soundsystem.

Or you could find yourself in the birthplace of hip-hop, 1520 Sedgwick Ave in The Bronx in the early 1970s, home of Kool Herc’s famous block party, and the DJs, MCs, breakdancers and graffiti artists that would conquer the world.

Slide forward a few years to New York in 1978, and the sleazy Coney Island, the ultimate destination for disco decadence and debauchery, with its resident transvestites recreating the seedy street life of the era, set to salacious swirl of sound

Finally you can head right back to The Blind Pig, a popular, hard-bop prohibition era, boogie-woogie joint, hosting blazing blues piano by the likes of Leigh ‘Pinetop’ Delamere, The Gordano Skifflers and The Arcadia 78rpm orchestra.

Masked Ball director Kelvin Batt said: “The Underworld has been a while in the making and the team is so excited to unleash it. This new addition to the ball is going to be a real showstopper, with all kinds of chaos happening within its walls as you travel through the musical ages.”
