Porthleven played host to one of many ‘Big Lunch’ events held around the country on Sunday.

Organised by the Porthleven Community Group, it saw around 40 people enjoying picnics in the beautiful sunshine on the Moors Playing Field.

It proved to be one of the hottest days of the year so far and the group was grateful for the support shown from the local community in coming together to enjoy the lunch.

Despite the soaring temperatures, Katie Thurston, one of the event’s organisers, said: "The atmosphere was incredibly relaxed and the day was an enjoyable one for all involved."

The lunch was held as part of a campaign set up by The Eden Project, with help from the National Lottery Funding, which aims to bring communities together to share a meal.

This year they have been held all over the country over the same weekend as the Big Lunch campaign joined forces with The Great Get Together and the Jo Cox Foundation, in memory of MP Jo Cox, to encourage community involvement and relationships.
