St Michael's School in Helston has played host to its annual summer fair, which saw pupils and parents enjoying fun activities in the wonderful sunshine.

The playground was turned into a fun fair as fairground rides, candy floss stalls and balloon artist, Timmy Twist, entertained adults and children alike.

The event was organised by the school's PTA and raised money for school funds, which will be spent planning fun things for the children in the coming summer weeks.

“Everyone enjoyed it, the children had a great day,” said school secretary, Kelly Watson. “We had the local fire engine here so the children could have a little go on that, and Ocean Academy Dance came to show off some of their wonderful dancing.”

Every year group had a chance to show off their individual skills to the visitors. “Year five demonstrated their wake and shake dance for us which they do every morning to get their blood pumping, and year six hosted a mini enterprise event, so they have raised some money for their own fund to use as class,” added Miss Watson.

There were numerous events going on throughout the day, including a pasty raffle with a giant pasty donated by Philps Pasties, and tombolas where treats such as bottles and chocolate were up for grabs. In total, £855 was raised for the school fund to help support future events and projects for the primary school.
