Amélies in Porthleven has added a permanent wood and glass terrace to the restaurant, offering diners views across the harbour.

The space, designed by owner Sam Sheffield-Dunstan, has been created to compliment the existing restaurant. There’s a dedicated bar and seating for 35 to 40 guests, or room for 70 to 80 standing for drinks receptions and other events.

The space is heated by an atmospheric wood-burning stove and entirely enclosed in winter but with bi-fold doors that will be drawn aside when the sun is shining, giving a completely open front.

Sam said: “My inspiration for the new space was a rustic French seaside kitchen. We believe our new terrace will give diners the best view in Porthleven with the boats bobbing in the harbour.

“We’ve known for a while that the terrace was a popular choice with our diners because of the fabulous view, but the temporary nature of the marquee we had before wasn’t great in winter and didn’t provide the wow factor we always aim for.

“The new space offers us scope to run additional music, comedy and taster events and for private hire including private dining, business meetings and smaller, intimate weddings. It gives us another way to extend our Amélies family and we’re all very excited about it.”

Amélies has also unveiled new chef Donato Dondiego who has relocated from London with his family to bring authentic seafood and Mediterranean dishes to Porthleven.
