It's been a case of third time lucky for Trevor Osborne after he finally received planning permission for three timber shelters at Porthleven's harbour.
His Harbour & Dock Company has been given conditional approval to build the shelters, one of which will be a retail kiosk, at the Harbour Head.
One previous application was withdrawn while a second was turned down by Cornwall Council, due to the pitched roofs being "overbearing" on the listed harbour.
The successful proposal now features three simple mono-pitch roofs instead, meaning they should not be visible from the harbour wall, with the zinc and timber materials considered "sympathetic" to the listed buildings in the area.
Case officer Matthew Doble said: "It is acknowledged that the proposal would generate some small scale
economic benefits through construction and on-going operation of the kiosk whilst also contributing to the vibrancy of Porthleven."
He added that it would result in "less than substantial harm" to the views and said the changes to roof, together with "further consideration as to the public use of the harbour" resulted in the previous reasons for
refusal being overcome.
