Animal residents of Helston got their time in the spotlight on Saturday when the Harvest Fair pet show and dog show were held.

Both taking place at Helston Football Club, the shows were a chance for owners to proudly parade their prized pets.

Miranda Priest, head veterinary nurse at Head and Head, was in charge of the judging the pet show, inspecting each animal and speaking to their owners about their care routines.

She congratulated all the entrants for presenting such a well cared for selection of animals, before naming cat Merlin, shown by Gemma Strong and her daughter Kerensa, as reserve best in show, with rabbit Mr Lion named best in show, to the delight of his owners Ruby and Charlotte Chikosi.

Just a couple of hours later it was the turn of the dog show at the same venue. Around 30 dogs were entered in the various classes, which ranged from waggiest tail and junior handler to more novelty classes such as fancy dress and my dog's got talent.

Judging the dogs was Tina Holland, helped by Kodie Holland. They named Sadie, shown by Lily Tullin, as reserve best in show, with the rosette for best in show this year presented to Tess, owned by Clive Thomas.
