Mullion Post Office is to close this Saturday “for several months” in order for it to become a Co-op store.

However, when the building reopens, on a date yet to be specified, the post office will continue to based at its current location in Nansmellyon Road, inside the Co-op.

The branch in its current form will end trading at 12.30pm this Saturday, with a spokesperson for Post Office Ltd saying: “It is envisaged that the work will take several months to complete.

“I am sorry for any inconvenience caused to our customers during this period of temporary closure.”

To help customers in the village during such a lengthy period of closure, the company will be introducing a mobile service. More details on where this will be based and its operating hours will be published on posters put up around Mullion.

People can still visit the post office at nearby Ruan Minor between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday, or 12.30pm Saturday, although certain services such as car tax and some travel money currencies will not be available here.

Helston Post Office is also currently closed for refurbishment, but is due to reopen next Wednesday, October 4 at 1pm when the branch will then be open seven days a week.
