They are no strangers to the daily struggles of having a loved one fighting in combat across the other side of the world and now the Culdrose Military Wives Choir wants to commemorate their predecessors of World War One through song – but they need your help to make it happen.

The Helston-based choir is looking to release a new album to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One next year, singing alongside 73 other Military Wives Choirs across the UK and overseas.

To make it a reality, however, choir members are asking the public to pre-order the album now through the Pledge Music website, to allow them to get into the recording studio early next year.

The commemorative album will feature four new songs written especially for the Military Wives Choirs by prestigious composers in the pop, film and classical worlds, around the themes of remembrance, patriotism and military life. It will also include music from the past and present, referencing World War One marching songs and service marches.

Anna Oliver, PR officer for Culdrose Military Wives Choir, said: "It is our own experiences of how difficult it is saying goodbye to someone in the forces, wherever in the world they may be deploying, that gives us a unique perspective to commemorate the service personnel and their families that have gone before us.

“In music, a medium that speaks far louder than words, we shall uphold their memory in the most powerful way. However, we need Cornwall's support if we are going to make this a reality.”

To support Cornwall's only Military Wives Choir in this project visit www.pledgemusic.com/mwc within the next 80 days. If pledgers select to pay by card, no money will be taken until the album is released next year.
