Andrew Wallis has been re-elected as mayor of Porthleven for a second term of office.

His deputy of the past year, Beverley Plunkett, was also re-elected.

Shortly before the vote, Mr Wallis thanked town councillors for their work over the past 12 months, saying they had achieved "an awful lot." This included a new town council website and the setting up of an environmental group, with the neighbourhood plan almost complete.

Mr Walllis said: "There are nine councillors here but you do so much for the community."

Councillor Tom Harrison announced at the meeting he would be resigning from his position on the council, as he could no longer commit the time the role deserved.

Mr Harrison, formerly of the Ship Inn in Porthleven, said: "With two kids and working away, I spend half my time away and when I'm home I just haven't got the time to give it my all. It's not fair to the community to keep my place."
