A MAN who "flagrantly disregarded" a restraining order against a woman - at one point staying with her for five days before being caught - went on to threaten her life as he was arrested.

As a result, Kevin Patrick Standerwick, of Thomas Terrace in Porthleven, will now spend ten weeks in prison.

Magistrates in Bodmin heard that 50-year-old Standerwick was given a restraining order against the woman in 2015. Since then he had breached it four times.

The court was told: "By breaching it for the fourth time, he has shown a flagrant disregard for the authority of the court. He was found in the home of [the victim] and he was present in her home for five days."

His presence at the house in Penrose Parc, also in Porthleven, was only discovered after a "loud altercation" between the pair, which was reported to the police by a neighbour.

Magistrates were also told: "Whether or not he was invited to stay at [the victim's] address, he was aware that this order was in place and he should not have been where he was found. His previous breaches of the order should have taught him a lesson.

"After arrest and en route to the police station he made violent threats towards [the victim's] life. His record of offending shows a propensity for violence and he appears to have an addiction to alcohol."

Standerwick pleaded guilty to breaching his restraining order on May 22 and in addition to his prison sentence was ordered by magistrates to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
