Watchkeepers from National Coastwatch’s lookout at Bass Point on the Lizard had their hard work recognised at a long-service awards ceremony.

The event, held at Mullion Golf Club, saw six watchkeepers receive their certificates from Lizard lifeboat Coxswain Andrew Putt.

Five-year certificates were presented to Tom Cullen, Ian Wright and Gerry Fitter. A ten-year certificate was presented to Jane Marjoram, while Vicky Parker and station manager Peter Clements received certificates for 15 years’ service.

Speaking of his involvement with NCI Bass Point, Mr Putt said that the volunteer watchkeepers played a vital role in ensuring the safety of those at sea and on the coast path.

Bass Point station manager, Peter Clements, said: “It’s a pleasure to attend an event like this and to see the hard work put in by our team recognised in this way.

“We are proud of our association with the Lizard life boat and have the greatest respect for the boat and its crew.
