The main road to St Keverne was closed for almost six hours on Monday evening following a collision that resulted in an elderly man being airlifted to hospital.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision, which took place just after 4pm on the B3293 at Zoar. Eye witnesses described a van and a small green car stopped at the scene, with the occupants giving statements to police.
Police have since confirmed that a Peugeot Partner multi-person vehicle and a Nissan Micra were involved, with both badly damaged.
The air ambulance was scrambled for one of the casualties, a man in his 80s, who had to be extracted from his car by firefighters. He was airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital with chest injuries and his current condition is not known at this time.
Police said that the driver of the Nissan was also taken to the Treliske hospital by land ambulance.
Fire crews from Tolvaddon, St Keverne and Helston were sent to the scene to work alongside paramedics and a land ambulance crew to move the casualty to the helicopter.
The road was closed for more than five hours while the vehicles were removed from the road.
