Strawberries and cream were fittingly on the menu as the League of Friends of Helston Community Hospital held a fete to raise vital funds during Wimbledon week.

Around 100 people turned up to enjoy the annual summer fete, which was opened by Captain William Entwisle of RNAS Culdrose.

Capt Entwisle was introduced by the president of the league Dr Ken Whittle.

Thanks to the selection of stalls, such as a raffle, strawberry stand and homemade cakes, the Friends managed to raise £1,031.72 for the hospital.

Wendy Wallis, from the league of friends, said: “A great day was had by all and we would like to express our thanks to everybody who turned up to support the event.”
