Annual leukaemia charity coffee morning in memory of Amy Searle
LAST Saturday saw the annual coffee morning at Trinity Methodist Church raising money for research into leukaemia.
The event was held in memory of 22-year-old law student Amy Searle, who sadly died of leukaemia despite previously undergoing a bone marrow transplant donated by her brother.
Amy started fundraising for leukaemia while she was receiving treatment and her family and friends decided to continue collecting money for the fund.
Organiser Hazel Treloar planned an arrangement of stalls such as a raffle, bric-a brac-stall, homemade cakes and crafts.
There was also a performance from a singing group called Thraw’d Together. Overall the event raised a total of £664 for the Leukaemia Fund.
With support from April Combellack, Hazel has raised a staggering £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by arranging other fundraising events in the past.
