A 15-YEAR-OLD who ran out of drink on his birthday went to a Helston supermarket to steal some more.
The youth, from Falmouth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to taking a box of lager worth £14.99 from Tesco in Helston on June 9.
He told the police afterwards that he had been drinking for his birthday and had run out of beer to celebrate and went to get some more. “I took the lager and I knew it was wrong” he said.
The youth, who also admitted being drunk and disorderly ten days later in Berkeley Vale, Falmouth, had been “very, very drunk” and abusive said David Harvey for the CPS.
Elliott Moore, solicitor for the youth, said he was known to the courts having been given a detention and training order last year, but he was trying to turn his life around and was being successful.
He was handed a youth rehabilitation order for a year.
