LUNCHEON CLUB: On Saturday the main course consisted of ham with a mixture of vegetables and followed by a choice of desserts. A presentation was made to Marjory Pryor who has been a great help in the kitchen for a long time, “Many Thanks indeed”. Mr and Mrs Prior are moving up ‘Country’.

BREANEY METHODIST CHAPEL: The congregation had another first on Sunday morning. Local preacher in training, Mrs C. King from the Marazion area of the Lizard and Mounts Bay Circuit, was on her first preaching visit. She was introduced by Stephanie Gordon with Paul Jenkin, Mary Louise Combellack and Sarah Fuller providing the music. The older children and teenagers were away for the week-end at Trelowarren Estate. The story demonstration will be remembered, dealing as it did on the subject of ‘lighting’. Most of the hymns came from Songs of Praise but the last was from Hymns and Psalms. Readings were from Numbers 21v 4-9 and John 3 v 14-21. A sketch was performed by members of the preacher’s family in absolute silence, very moving and very thoughtful. The sermon certainly showed all the evil pleasure derived from USA and the so-called Super Marketing to be misleading and not helpful at all to the development of young people in particular. After the service refreshments were available downstairs.
