Sunday was the 80th anniversary of the chapel and the preacher was Elsie Balme of Porthleven. At the start of the service for an introit, Valerie Wallace, together with Elsie, sang the hymn “Now the green blade rises from the buried grain.”

There were readings from Dick Brunwin, Jacqui Milner and Nicky Lawrence. Valerie Wallace sang the lovely John Rutter arrangement of “All things bright and beautiful.”

Elsie’s theme throughout was “They think it’s all over, but of course it isn’t” and covered different aspects of life. Together with the hymns she had chosen, it was a very enjoyable service.

On the close of the service members progressed to the Coach and Horses Inn where they enjoyed a lovely meal together and it was very nice to have the Rev Beverly Turner, along with husband Palfrey, joining in.

The pet service will take place at 11am on Sunday, May 19 and not May 11, as previously stated. All pets are welcome from a ladybird to a dog and if you are unable to bring your pet, take a photograph along instead.
