BREAGE CHURCH OF ENGLAND SCHOOL: Unfortunately a telephone call was received last week postponing the Falconry Experience until Thursday (due to illness). Six birds of prey will be brought in and children will be told about their history, habitat, food etc. Children will discover the history of falconry and learn about the equipment used, as well as how birds are trained. All of this is delivered through activities which fully involve the children. All children will have an opportunity to hold a bird of prey. If you are interested in knowing more please see their website “Ancient Art Falconry”.

BREANEY METHODIST CHAPEL: At the second Sunday of Easter service, the morning preacher, the Rev Beverly Turner (section minister), was welcomed by Stephanie Gordon (vestry steward) with Paul Jenkin providing the music.

The theme was “hope”.

Talking to the children our preacher stated “Not all things are as the cover implies.” She showed a tin, with the blurb of a well-known brand of sweets and when the cover was removed the contents were plastic letters, which her grandchildren play with when visiting the Manse. An egg box contained chocolate eggs!

The scripture readings came from Ruth chapter 1, the minister read verses 1-6, the remainder of the chapter was read by ladies in the congregation in a drama form of words; although Ruth’s story is well able to stand on its own, this dramatised version made it even more interesting. Sermon time contained more background information, than is usually the case. Prayers were read and included the persecuted church for their faith under pressure. The offering was taken up by Margaret Jones. Holy communion concluded the morning service.

There was no evening service.

On Sunday at 10.30am David Pascoe is planned to be the preacher at the morning service. Breaney has been set up for a journey that Breage School explored last Friday with Germoe and Godolphin Schools expected on Monday, which is understood to be called a ‘PREDERI’, a follow up to the Easter Story. Saturday is the next meal at Breaney, contact Stephanie Gordon on 01326 564254 for more information.
