CROWAN CHURCH: The congregation was welcomed by the peeling of the church bells on Sunday. The Rev Sharon Chalcroft led the service, the music was played by Colin and readers were Ann Trevenen Jenkin and Pam Old. Prayers of intercession were read by Amanda and Shelia and flowers were arranged by Sharon. Everyone is invited to come along on Sunday from 10.15am to the Parish Rooms for a cup of tea or coffee before the service.

The Cornish language service was held on April 27 and the following are thanked for their help: Nick for putting up the St Piran's flag on the tower and David Roberts, patron, for welcoming everyone. Thanks for the donations of food, which was provided by Sheila Gluyas, Sarah Thomas, Joan Roberts, Delia and others and to Sheila and Sarah for helping to serve it. Dr Loveday Jenkin and Ann Trevenen Jenkin read the lessons in Cornish, and the service was conducted by the Rev Jane Kneebone. The collection and the donations for the teas will go to Crowan Church. It was a lovely occasion and everyone who attended enjoyed themselves.

This year the Lenten Soups raised £414 to support research into Parkinson’s Disease. In addition £65 was raised selling cards made by Mrs Walker. Thank you to everyone who helped and supported. There will be a coffee morning on Saturday in the parish rooms from 10am to noon. Please come along and support it and enjoy a cup of coffee.

If you would like to help church funds by making a small monthly donation of only £1 a week by standing order this would help. Standing order forms are available at the back of the church.

The new vicar, the Rev Dominic Whitting will be installed at a service on Monday, June 2 at 7pm. A Book of Condolence for Corporal James Walters has been placed in the Lady Chapel for people to sign.

NANCEGOLLAN VILLAGE HALL: On Saturday a Car Boot sale is to be held between 10.30am and 1pm; to book your table ring 01209 832950. The cost per table is £3. There will be refreshments including tea, coffee and pasties and also a raffle. Bring your own nibbles and drinks along to the Quiz night on Monday, May 19. Entry is £1 per person for teams of four and the evening begins at 8pm. All are welcome.

SITHNEY COMMUNITY GROUP: The Ladies Pebbles Group meeting is on Wednesday, May 21 at 7 pm at Chynhale Chapel. Everyone enjoyed the Sugarcraft workshop held last month and it was decided to have another interactive evening. This will be taking the format of craft evening. The group will be using their usual tried and tested low tech methods - items found around the home and garden and a sprinkling of imagination, also a bit of DIY. An apron may be useful for the messy stuff. Entry is £2 including refreshments - everyone welcome. For more information, please email sithneycg@outlook.com.

The first Sithney Summer Fayre will take place on August 2 at Sithney School between 2pm and 4pm. The aim is to make this a lovely local event with different groups within the community running their own stalls to raise money. There will be lots to take part in for everyone including games, stalls, a children's fancy dress competition and lots more. There will be a meeting on Thursday, June 1 at Sithney School. Anyone wishing to be involved or who can offer some help, please come along and join in.
