CROWAN CHURCH: Crowan's beautiful bells called the congregation to Sunday’s service at 11am service at St Crewena church.

The Rev Tony Seymour led the service The music was by Christine and readers were Ann Trevenen-Jenkin and Pam Old. Prayers of intercessions were taken by Howard; flowers were arranged by Tess.

The congregation enjoyed Fairtrade tea and coffee before the service and thanks are sent to Amanda and Sheila. Evening prayer is said each day in the church (Tuesday through to Saturday at 5pm). All are welcome to join Dom for these short quiet services of prayer.

A concert was held on Sunday night by the Camborne Ladies Choir, in aid of church funds. Everyone had a enjoyable evening followed by refreshments.

Thank you to everyone who supported the 2p's round the church event, the coins got one and a half times around the church and everyone enjoyed the barbecue and teas. The amount raised was £152.82 for church funds. Steve and Avril did a wonderful job for the bell ringers barbecue.

There will be a stall on the plan in Praze an Beeble on Friday from 10am to noon. There will be cakes, bric-a-brac and plants for sale. This will take place in the institute in Praze if the weather is wet. Crowan Church Summer fete will be held from 7pm at the cricket fields in Praze on Friday, August 1 and will be opened by the Rev Dom Whitting. There will be lots of stalls and sideshows and a barbecue to enjoy.

To commemorate the beginning of World War 1, a special service will be held at 8pm on Monday, August 4 at Crowan Parish church. The Rev Dom will officiate..

SITHNEY SUMMER CELEBRATIONS: Summer in Sithney is the first community summer fete and is to be held this year on Saturday, August 2 from 2pm until 4pm at Sithney C P School and is to be opened by Councillor John Keeling.

There will be lots of stalls from many organisations within the community raising funds for their own cause. There will be games, a raffle, children’s activities as well as a children's fancy dress competition. There will be creative scarecrows and tractor display and all this to the lovely music of Helston Concert Band. Then when you have tried your hand at the games and browsed the stalls there will be delicious afternoon refreshments available in the marquee so you can relax with a cup of tea and cake.
