METHODIST CHURCH: The service on Sunday was conducted by Hartley Wills of Crowlas. His sermon queried “Where do you keep your faith”? All the hymns he had chosen were enjoyed and accompanied by Mavis Harper.

PRIMARY SCHOOL: At the end of term KS2 put on a wonderful production of Scheherezade – the Tales of the Arabian Nights at Carleen village hall. The packed audience were very appreciative of the high quality singing, dancing and acting and everyone, including the children, enjoyed the performance.

Thanks are extended to all the staff and volunteer parents who gave up their time to run the numerous and enjoyable after school clubs. They will start up again week commencing September 15.

Head teacher, Lucy Wandless, cannot believe she has been at the school for a whole year, loving every minute of it. It has been a very successful year for the school with many achievements to celebrate – school productions, trips, visitors to the school, clubs, fundraising events, sporting achievements and Youth Speaks, to name but a few. In addition the school has joined the Helston and Lizard Peninsula Education Trust and has already begun working together to improve the opportunities that can be offered to pupils in all of the trust school.

Some building work and improvements will be made over the summer break and thanks are extended to the PTA and Godolphin Cross Community Association for their donations to the purchase of laptops for the school.

Finally, Lucy extends her thanks to all pupils, staff, parents/carers, governors and members of the community for all their continued hard work and support this year and wishes success to all the Y6 pupils in their new schools. She looks forward with great enthusiasm to the new school year and wishes everyone a relaxing and enjoyable summer.

LITTLE DOLPHINS PRE SCHOOL: Little Dolphins have had a busy time looking at things with wings, slugs and snails, bees and butterflies to name but a few. They have also visited Paradise Park and enjoyed a beach picnic at Praa Sands.

At the end of term they said goodbye to Jolie, Piran, Isabella, Georgiana, Eythan, Gabriel, Aulay, Pippa, Amelia, Florence and Barney, who will be joining Godolphin Primary Reception class in September – good wishes go with them.

BOOK CLUB: The club meets at 7.30pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the Godolphin Arms. They choose the books from the Cornwall Library Book Club sets and enjoy lively discussions as they share thoughts on the books that have been read.

No literary qualifications are necessary to join, just a love of reading and a sense of humour. If you are interested please contact Nick on 01736 763177 or nick.brew@btinternet.
