On Sunday Stephanie welcomed everyone and made some extra announcements.

Elizabeth Tremayne, on her first visit as a circuit reader, was our preacher; Paul and Craig were the musicians and Nigel worked the projector.

The first hymn was “Praise Him, Praise Him” from Songs of Fellowship. The service was written by the Rev Barrie Heafford entitled, Transformation and Joy. Speaking to the children Elizabeth had a map on the screen showing Cana in Galilee in relationship to the rest of the world, where Jesus, Son of the living God, conducted His mission.

She majored on the fact that when his mother said to her son that the wedding feast where Jesus and his followers were guests had run out of wine, Jesus replied to His earthly mother’s request was “not yet,” but He did his first miracle by tuning several stone jars of water into good wine!

The next hymn on the screen was “Our God is a great big God” with actions by children and some of the used to be children, who went down to Sunday school afterwards.

Alan read from Revelation chapter 19 v 6-10, Stephanie read John chapter 2 v 1-11. A video was shown of a younger Johnny Cash playing his guitar and singing a spiritual song.

Prayers followed the sermon and covered trouble spots in the world, also prayers were said for those with health problems. After the offering was taken up, a sketch followed with the actors being Rosina, Peter and Treve Benney with Paul Combellack portraying a drinking party and cheap plonk; when along came fresh water that tasted like good wine! A poem and blessing concluded the service.

Fellowship of coffee time was held downstairs after the service. The evening’s service was led by our preacher Pastor Bill Reed. In addition to those who were in the music corner for the morning service; Sarah and Megan played also in the evening. All the songs and hymns came from Songs of Fellowship. Pastor read a Psalm; Peter Gordon took up the offering and read from Matthew chapter 14 the feeding of over 5000 people. Prayers were said for those who mourn. The sermon was all about Jesus, who knew what was going to happen before it actually did. Holy communion was included in the service and blessing.

The Sunday service in the evening is to be shared worship.
